ABOUT
Thanks for visiting Columbia Gorge Woodworks website! We are a 1 man part-time shop run out of our family garage/home. I'm a full-time middle school CTE (Career and Technical Ed/Shop) teacher and former baseball, basketball and golf coach.
Getting to this point in my woodworking career has been a long, on again/off again journey. It started over 20 years ago after my wife and I bought our first house, which was a fixer upper for sure. It had a 300 square foot detached shop. I bought a used table saw from a co-worker, watched any New Yankee Workshop episode I could get my hands on (this was pre YouTube days) and was off and running. I started by making a simple built in bookcase, bathroom vanity, and coffee table. I enjoyed making anything that gave me a reason to hang out in the shop and buy new tools!
The on again/off again adventure with wood working has been frustrating at times. Coaching both my children in various sports as they've grown up, as well as having been a middle school and high school coach has been a calling that I have loved. Recently I've stepped back from coaching. Our amazing twins headed out to college this year, so I've started chasing my dream of starting a woodworking business in addition to teaching and being a volunteer Young Life Leader.
The name Columbia Gorge Woodworks has a special meaning for me. I grew up on the east end of the Columbia River Gorge in beautiful Hood River, Oregon. Currently, I live and work in Washougal, Washington, which is on the west end of the gorge.
We have some items for sale in our shop, and you can see from the gallery on the home page some examples of work I've done. Please check out my facebook and Instagram pages for more examples of what I've made. If you have something in mind that you don't see, chances are I can build it! Send me a message and we can get started!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and visit our website!
